We’ve been in New York for a couple of days now, and I’m convinced this is actually the city that sleeps in. Morning strolls feel like wandering through a movie set before the actors arrive. It’s peaceful, a little eerie, and honestly kind of charming. We’re enjoying every minute, even the quiet ones.
Our first adventure was a massage (because vacation priorities). Feeling refreshed, we wandered down 5th Avenue… only to discover that nothing was open yet. Not even a hint of hustle. Just us, the buildings, and a few pigeons who looked like they were also waiting for stores to wake up.
But the day redeemed itself in a big way: Rocco Steak House. Let me tell you — A‑MAZ‑ING. Possibly the first steak I’ve ever eaten without reaching for sauce. It didn’t need anything. It was perfect on its own, and I’m still thinking about it.
Today was a different kind of memorable. We visited the 9/11 Museum, and it was deeply moving. A sobering reminder of how fragile life is and how much we need God’s Kingdom. So many lives touched, changed, and forever affected. It stays with you.
From there, we headed to the One World Observatory, and WOW — that view. Absolutely breathtaking. New York may sleep in, but when it wakes up, it shows off.
After a much‑needed nap, we made our way to The Summit observation deck. Beautiful, but packed. The balloon room was… an experience. Let’s just say the “please be gentle with the balloons” rule was more of a suggestion for some guests. The poor attendant repeated it at least twenty times. We escaped to the rooftop for water and a breather before heading back to our hotel, where we ended the night at the rooftop lounge with a drink and a bite. Perfect.

And the week is just getting started.
- Tuesday: The Met Museum with Oasis Bible Tours — a Bible‑based tour we feel so blessed to experience.
- Wednesday: MJ on Broadway.
- Thursday: Patterson Bethel.
- Friday: Warwick Bethel — an unexpected invitation from friends that feels like a gift straight from Jehovah. His kindness is overwhelming. He always gives exactly what we need, exactly when we need it.
So far, this trip has been refreshing — busy enough to be exciting, but not so packed that we forget to breathe. We’ve had time to relax, wander, nap, and actually enjoy the moments. That’s what vacation should be: fun, peaceful, and full of joy.
I think we nailed it.
To be continued…
